  • image description Annual Report 2010 Paths that seem familiar to us, or even taken for granted, can sometimes surprise us. Whether it was clearing the paths in the Gardens or building new ones (literally and figuratively), we spent an extraordinary year implementing our new Long Range Plan to prepare for a bright future.

Thank you very much for your support, and for being part of this wonderful journey.

  • image description The Gardens From creative horticulture displays to garden projects designed to bring new vitality to our plantings, our Gardens reached a new level of excellence. Work on our preserve lands and restoration work on the Tower was less noticeable to our visitors, but were essential to our mission and to our stewardship of the viewsheds. Choose this path
  • image description Conservation Rare plants of Florida are on the path to preservation through our Conservation Program. Together with our collaborative partners and member participation in the Center for Plant Conservation we stayed active year-round collecting, preserving, and educating about rare plants. • image description The Visitor Experience We created innovative “pathways” for our 142,431 visitors and 4,170 members to experience the Gardens this year. We opened up Pinewood Estate for self-guided tours, and invested in several amenity upgrades in the Visitor Center. An eCommerce portal to our Retail Services and other Web-based technologies helped us communicate in exciting new ways. With groups increasing 52 percent and with 117 facility rentals booked this past year, we are seeing many new faces in our Gardens these days. Choose this path
  • image description Education & Programs While maintaining many of our lifelong learning programs for adults, we started down a new path in our Garden Campus educational programming for children and families. Revision of the Tools for Teachers curriculum and the hiring of an Education Coordinator were the first steps along this path. Choose this path
  • image description Events &Exhibits Music is central to the core mission of the Gardens. We celebrated the 500th anniversary of the carillon and presented a full season of music concerts for every taste. We showcased a wide variety of art by Florida artists, and launched the Boktoberfest Plant Sale that earned its place in our calendar of special events in the Gardens. Choose this path
